Witnesses and neighbours in the area were shocked by the news, many of them saying how safe their area has been in the time they’ve lived there. One neighbour, Paula Shipley, said she initially thought the sound was hammering, as she said there’s always construction happening in the area.Mayor John Tory said in a statement Thursday night that the shooting was “a totally unacceptable act of gun violence.”“I cannot imagine the anguish the family and friends of the two girls shot while playing in a park are experiencing tonight. This entire city wants these girls to make a full recovery and this entire city wants justice for them.”Tory spoke to the media on Saturday, saying that he thinks it’s time for police to be “very aggressive in rounding these people up who carry these guns around, brandish guns and use guns” and he urged the suspects to come forward on their own before they’re found by police.Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-4200 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477.Read more:Bullet marks on a fence, two children in hospital: signs of the times‘I don’t want to lose you this way.’ Witness describes chaotic scene after two young girls shotMayor John Tory calls for swift justice ...
