A 13-year-old boy has been charged with first-degree murder following the killing of a cyclist in Little Portugal on Saturday.Police say Aaron Rankine-Wright, 19, had just left his apartment, and was heading to work on Saturday when he was followed by a dark SUV, intentionally struck, then assaulted and stabbed near Frankish and Sheridan Aves., near Dundas St. W. and Dufferin St. A 13-year-old boy was arrested and charged with first-degree murder on Friday morning, police said. He is the second person to be charged in the killing. A 17-year-old boy was also charged with first-degree murder on Sunday. Neither teen can be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Police said they received the call around 5:30 p.m. Saturday evening and found Rankine-Wright unconscious and not breathing. Police say that one male suspect is outstanding. A ghost bike ride Rankine-Wright’s memory has been scheduled and is set to take place on Sunday at 6 p.m. Organizers are holding a series of rides the wake of several cyclist deaths in the past week, amid outrage over the commonality of pedestrian and cyclist deaths in the city.Rankine-Wright’s ghost ride is hosted by Advocacy for the Respect of Cyclists, and is set to leave from Matt Cohen Park near Spadina Ave. and Bloor St. W., headed toward the site of his killing.
