Toronto Police have released dramatic security footage of a targeted killing in the city’s downtown core last weekend.The video, released at a press conference Friday, shows three attackers chasing Jaiden Jackson, 28, down the ramp of a parking garage on Wellington St., shortly after he left a party at Pick 6ix restaurant on Sunday night around 9 p.m.In the video, two men on foot and another in a black car — all three with handguns — catch up to Jackson after he trips and falls on the ramp. The three surround him and shoot him repeatedly. The two men on foot then get into the car and it quickly reverses out of the parking garage. Jackson was shot more than 20 times, homicide Det. Sgt. Gary Giroux told reporters at the press conference, adding he was “clearly” targeted.Jackson, who police said had been at the restaurant — which is co-owned by rapper Drake — for several hours before he was killed, had left the party with a woman, Giroux said. He said the pair walked westbound on Wellington St. to return to Jackson’s car, which was parked nearby. They were then confronted by the suspect vehicle — a black, four-door, 2010 or 2012 Honda Civic with a sunroof — which had been seen driving south on Jordan St. from Melinda St., just west of Yonge St. before the shooting began, Giroux said. Giroux says the suspects’ vehicle was seen heading west on Wellington St. before turning south on Bay St. The vehicle gets lost on security footage near Union Station, Giroux said. Police believe the car was headed to the Gardiner Expressway.The woman seen with Jackson is co-operating with police, Giroux said. Jackson was known to police, Giroux said, but did not elaborate.
