Extortionists sentenced to 36 years rigorous imprisonment

PESHAWAR: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) awarded 36 years rigorous imprisonment to Muhammad Irshad and Muhammad Jan after charges of extortion were proved against them.The prosecution was able to prove in court that both convicts had demanded huge amount of money from complainant Mukhtiaruddin.The accused who were workers of banned organisation were arrested by Counter Terrorism Police (CTD) on the complaint of Mukhtiaruddin. The accused had also threatened to kill the complainant if he failed to pay the amount demanded.The court imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on convicts and in case of failure to pay the amount, they would have to serve additional six months of rigorous imprisonment. ......
