Two Toronto police officers have been charged after a January incident where police allege the two “attempted to obstruct, pervert or defeat the course of justice” by destroying evidence.In a news release Wednesday, Toronto police announced that two officers from the city’s central 13 division, Const. Vittorio Dominelli, 36, and Constable Jamie Young, 35, were arrested Tuesday and charged with one count each of attempting to obstruct justice and breach of trust.Toronto police have revealed little about the incident, but sources previously told the Star that Dominelli and another officer from 13 division were alleged to have consumed marijuana edibles while on duty over a January weekend. The incident took place after a marijuana dispensary raid in the area.Immediately after the incident, Toronto police professional standards launched an internal investigation and suspended two officers. Meaghan Gray, spokesperson for the Toronto police, said Wednesday that the pair are currently suspended with pay. Dominelli has 13 years’ experience with Toronto police, while Young has been with the force for two and a half years.The officers are due in court June 7.
