Yorkville robbery suspects flee scene of rollover crash on foot
(The Star Movies)

Police are still searching for two suspects in a Yorkville robbery, who they say were also involved in a rollover crash near Jarvis and Wellesley on Saturday morning. At 10:33 on Saturday morning, a high-end women’s accessory store near the intersection of Bay and Bloor was robbed. “A woman entered the store, indicated she was armed with a firearm,” Toronto police Constable David Hopkinson said in an interview. After robbing the store, Hopkinson said the woman “was seen getting into a car that was driven by a man, and the couple sped off.” Police say they believe the suspects were then involved in the collision, at the intersection of Jarvis and Wellesley at around 11 a.m. “We just saw this speeding SUV go right through the intersection on the solid red,” said Diana Tarasca, who witnessed the incident, adding the SUV then struck a car travelling north on Jarvis. Witnesses said the speeding SUV flipped over, landing on the sidewalk. The occupants crawled out and fled on foot, police confirmed. No injuries have been reported by the occupants of the second vehicle or nearby pedestrians. “That’s the miraculous thing — it’s like divine intervention,” Tarasca said. The area was cordoned off and transit rerouted during the investigation at the scene of the crash. The intersection is now being cleared and transit service has resumed. Police continue to search for the suspects, who have not been apprehended.
