Giants place Pence on DL with sprained thumb

The Giants will be without Hunter Pence for at least the next 10 days; the outfielder was placed on the disabled list before Friday`s game against the Angels with a right thumb sprain. In his place, San Francisco recalled outfielder Mac Williamson from Triple-A Sacramento.
