Hwy 401 eastbound closed in Mississauga for crash

All eastbound lanes on Hwy 401 in Mississauga have been shut down after three transport trucks, an SUV, and a sedan crashed early Thursday morning. The Ontario Provincial Police said it happened near the Winston Churchill Blvd off-ramp. It is unclear when exactly the crash happened. Video from the scene, posted by OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt on Twitter, showed two of the damaged transport trucks — one of which had its right side nearly caved in. An SUV and a sedan, both heavily damaged, sat on the left shoulder. Debris from the crash littered the highway. Despite the heavy damage, Schmidt said only three people were taken to hospital for “relatively minor� injuries. “No serious injuries, which is spectactular,� Schmidt said during the video.Police said all traffic is being forced off Hwy 401 at Winston Churchill as emergency crews investigate. No re-opening time for the highway has been given.
