Farva may seem like an unlikely character to become as iconic as he did, but nevertheless the Super Trooper played by Kevin Heffernan is just one of those comedy figures who you can`t help quoting endlessly. So it actually might not come as a surprise that the upcoming Super Troopers 2 almost became `the Farva show,` according to the members of the Broken Lizard comedy troupe, who held a Q&A after a recent screening of the sequel.`We had to actually pull ourselves back. We would have these writing sessions and it was like, `Oh my god, and then Farva would do this, oh my god, then Farva says this,` and we realized we had this script that was like all about Farva,` said Super Troopers 2 director Jay Chandrasekhar, who also plays Arcot `Thorny` Ramathorn in the movies. `And he had become exponentially more obnoxious than in the first movie.``And insane--f***ing insane,` Heffernan interjected.`To the point where we`re like, `Wait a minute, we`re going to have to write in that he has a brain tumor, because he`s so outlandish,`` Chandrasekhar continued. `And we finally had to take a step back and be like, `Wait a minute, OK, this can`t just be the Farva show.` And we tried to trim it back.`Super Troopers 2 sees the gang sent up to Canada to help transition a Canadian town into the US after the government discovers that the US`s northern border is actually farther north than was thought. Although the other troopers might have preferred to leave Farva behind, fans wouldn`t have been happy, and Heffernan`s character has a large role in the sequel, even if it`s definitely not `the Farva show.`As the original Super Troopers grew into a cult hit, Farva became infamous for absurd lines like asking for a `liter of cola` at a fast food restaurant or calling a speeding motorist a `chicken f***er.` He basically has no self-awareness and limited social intelligence, and he always takes things too far, which makes for hilarity as well as relatability--many people know someone just ...
