Police have arrested one of three suspects in the brutal beating of a 29-year-old man with autism at a bus station near Square One shopping centre in Mississauga last week. The arrest was made Friday in Windsor. Peel Regional police also arrested two others and charged them with accessory after the fact. The victim was seen in a surveillance video sitting on the bottom step of a staircase at the bus station on the evening of March 16 when three men came down the stairs behind him.Suddenly, seemingly without warning, the suspects started punching and kicking the man with autism for roughly six seconds — leaving him with a bleeding head — before walking away. The man with autism was taken to hospital with serious injuries and later released.Parmvir Singh Chahil, a 21-year-old man, was to appear in Brampton court Friday, charged with one count of aggravated assault.Police are still seeking Ronjot Singh Dhami, 25. Earlier this week, a lawyer representing Dhami said his client isn’t guilty of the attack and will turn himself in Monday. The third suspect has yet to be identified, but Peel Regional Police said he may go by the name of “Jason.”Hardip Padda, 44, and Harmanvir Chahil, 18, both from Windsor, are facing one count each of accessory after the fact. Padda is the suspect’s mother and Harmanvir Chahil is his younger brother.Mississauga mayor Bonnie Crombie expressed her horror at the assault Wednesday.“I hope these cowards are apprehended soon and face the full weight of the justice system. These heinous & senseless acts of violence have no place in Mississauga,” she wrote on Twitter. With files from Mississauga News
