At least two gunmen fired several shots into a crowded North York bowling alley on Saturday evening, killing an innocent bystander and a man they had chased from outside the building, police said.Families with children were among the crowd packing Playtime Bowl & Entertainment at 33 Samor Rd., just off Dufferin St. south of Highway 401, when men with pistols opened fire.“There were children around. It was scary,” said bystander Craig Wallace, 32. “It was busy. It was a packed place.”Members of the horror-struck crowd screamed, “Duck and cover!” and “Someone’s got a gun!” Wallace said.The gunmen had been chasing Thanh Tien Ngo, 32, who fled inside from the front entranceway way shortly after 10 p.m., homicide Det. Rob Choe said Sunday afternoon.Bystander Ruma Amar, 32, had been socializing with her husband and sister and was trying to leave the building through the front door when the shooting began, Choe said.She died hours later in hospital after being hit with gunfire.She did not know Ngo, Choe said.“The shooting was meant for Mr. Ngo,” Choe said.Ngo was pronounced dead inside the bowling alley Saturday night.Choe declined to comment if Ngo was known to police, if he was carrying a weapon, or if the shooting was gang related.“Our female victim has no history with police,” Choe said.Playtime Bowl offers laser tag and arcade games as well as bowling.The shooters never entered the building, although one stood close to the front window, Choe said.Ngo was at the bowling alley with at least one friend, Choe said.Wallace said he saw someone bleeding heavily in the bowling lane next to him and that someone else was trying to protect the victim.There’s a video camera outside the bowling cameras and several other security cameras in the neighbourhood, Choe said.“We still have a lot of work to do,” Choe said.The two shooters and another man fled in a dark vehicle, Choe sai ...
