New research indicates that the bird-like dinosaur Archaeopteryx could indeed fly, but in flight it looked more like a swimmer doing the butterfly stroke than a modern bird, CNN reports. Using X-ray imaging techniques at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility in Grenoble, France, researchers were able to take a closer look at Archaeopteryx fossils preserved in limestone without damaging them.
