Rescue helicopter pilot Steve Oliver destined for life in the skies

Steven Oliver. Helicopter pilot, b: 7/6/1961, d: 30/1/2018. Steve Oliver was born to fly. Well, he thought he was. But the signs were not promising from the start. He was on the family farm outside Rotorua with his brother Murray Oliver. The farm had a hill with a small rise at the bottom, somewhat like a ski jump. Murray Oliver turned around in time to see his 5-year-old brother doing something rather bonkers. `Here`s Steve running down the hill... and he tried to jump off the hill and start flying [while flapping his arms]. He actually broke his collar bone. ``Dad said: `He`s going to end up flying`, which we all though was a joke.` It seems weirdly fitting Steve Oliver`s first solo flight...
