In their quest to find out what happened to doomed outsourcing giant Carillion, MPs are asking the right questions but they’re not necessarily addressing them to the right people. This week the committee investigating Carillion’s collapse grilled accountancy firms KPMG and Deloitte, but while the beancounters can provide valuable insight into the final hours of Carillion’s life, it wasn’t their job to save the business.
