Joss Whedon Leaves Batgirl Movie For A Very Good Reason
(GameSpot PC News)

If you were one of those excited to see what Joss Whedon`s Batgirl movie was going to be like, this is going to be difficult news to hear. The director of Marvel`s Avengers who also stepped in to finish Justice League is leaving the project. The news comes from The Hollywood Reporter, which says Whedon is stepping down as both writer and director of the project. In a statement, he says, `Batgirl is such an exciting project, and Warners/DC such collaborative and supportive partners, that it took me months to realize I really didn`t have a story. I`m grateful to Geoff and Toby and everyone who was so welcoming when I arrived, and so understanding when I... uh, is there a sexier word for `failed`?`It was March 2017 when it was first revealed Whedon would make the Batgirl movie. At the time no further information was revealed, including when fans would actually see the movie. Now, a year after first becoming attached to the project, a source tells THR that the creator of Buffy, The Vampire Slayer and Firefly simply could not figure out how to properly approach a Batgirl story. What this means for the future of the Batgirl movie remains to be seen, but Whedon opting to walk away from the project is not a bad thing. If he was unable to conceive of a story worthy of the character, it`s best to leave it to someone who can.In the meantime, there will be no shortage of DC Comics movies heading to theaters. Aquaman arrives on December 21. After that, Shazam, Wonder Woman 2, and a Cyborg standalone movie are among the announced titles still to come.
