South Canterbury prepares for severe weather as Cyclone Gita approaches

South Canterbury is preparing for the aftermath of Cyclone Gita, with severe weather warnings in place for much of the South Island. Metservice is forecasting rain for Timaru, with heavy falls from Tuesday afternoon and strong south-easterly winds.
