The following schools in the top of the South Island have indicated they will be closed or will close early due to ex-cyclone Gita: With winds predicted to hit almost 150 kilometres an hour and offshore waves up to 10 metres, the storm looks set to hit parts of the country hard over the next 12 - 24 hours.
