PYEONGHANG, South Korea—As the HMCS Chan sails slowly into the sunset, he waves a fond farewell from the bow.Patrick Chan has pulled up anchor on his competitive figure skating career. There’s the skating complex he still hopes — “fingers crossed’ — an entrepreneur will build for him in Vancouver. Then there’s the real estate license he plans to pursue. The mountains he intends to scale, literally, the back-country courses he’ll continue to ski, the off-track biking, the skydiving, tennis — so many passions.There will be thrills, still. They just won’t be found on a pristine sheet of ice, under the glare of TV lights, and the stare of scorers.“I’m so proud that I was able to stick in it this long,” said Chan, after his final performance on Saturday in Pyeongchang. “I’m happy that I can leave these Games with a gold medal in the team event.
