Police find body of 29-year-old Holly Hamilton

Hamilton police homicide detectives confirm they have found the body of 29-year-old Holly Hamilton, who had last been seen Sunday night.Homicide Staff Sgt. Dave Oleniuk confirmed police have found her body and her white, four-door Ford Escort in an east Hamilton parking garage.Family has just been informed, he said.Oleniuk said there is a man under arrest. But Oleniuk said he couldn’t say more Wednesday.The car is cordoned off by police tape and there is a significant police presence in the area at an apartment building off Barton Street East, about four kilometres from where Hamilton was last seen near her ex-boyfriend’s apartment.Hamilton police homicide unit detectives are continuing their search for Hamilton’s ex-boyfriend.She had not been seen or heard from since Sunday night after saying she was going out to visit a friend. She was last seen near her 30-year-old ex-boyfriend’s east Hamilton apartment — where police have focused their investigation.Homicide detectives have not yet named the man. However, family and friends have been circulating his name and image widely online.The pair has a young daughter together and there was a history of domestic violence, police said.Family and friends had been organizing a search and poster campaign, with plans to meet at the FreshCo on Barton Street East and Strathearne Avenue Wednesday night before the news of her death was posted online.
