Sculpture of a Bashkir horseman installed on the shores of River IJssel

Initiated by the Geelvinck Museum, on 11th January 2018, a life-size bronze sculpture of a Bashkir horseman by the Russian sculptor Alexander Taratynov was presented to the public in Veessen on the shore of the River IJssel. The monument commemorates the 1st Bashkir Regiment, which in November 1813 placed a ship-bridge across the River IJssel near Veessen during the campaign in The Netherlands of the Sixth Coalition against Napoleon. ......
