Partially blinded in accident, youth pleads for euthanasia

Tirupur: A 19-year-old man who lost his sight partially, allegedly in an industrial accident, on Monday petitioned the district administration to allow him to opt for euthanasia. He alleged that though his life was totally ruined, the textile dyeing unit which employed him was refusing to pay any compensation. C Balamurugan is a native of Bommanaickenpatti in Theni district. His father died many years ago and his mother Chinnathal is an agricultural labourer. In June, he came to Tirupur with the help of a friend and joined a private textile dyeing unit in Chinnakarai of Palladam taluk.
