Excellencies, ladies and gentlemen, Climate change is one of the greatest threats to global security. Climate change knows no borders and it presents an existential challenge to us all. An important security effect of climate change is an increase in the frequency of extreme weather events - floods and storms principally. This affects the infrastructures of towns and cities, access to drinking water and other resources to support daily life.
