Contractor faces trial, relief to 10 in Ruby case

Margao: The principal sessions court judge B P Deshpande, on Monday, ordered framing of charges against only one - contractor Vishwas Dessai - of the altogether 11 accused against whom chargesheets were filed by the Canacona police in the infamous Ruby Residency collapse case that had claimed 31 lives and injured 21. The other 10 who have been discharged from the case before framing of charges against them are eight government officials - Dipak Dessai, Prashant Shirodkar, Ramesh Naik, Pradip Naik, Ajay Naik Dessai, Ashank Naik Gaonkar, Suhas Phal Dessai and Prashant Bandodkar - and builders, Pardip Singh Birring and Jagdipkumar Sehgal.
