Smog increases risk for COPD patients

VARANASI: With smog choking the city for the past eight to ten days, doctors have issued a warning for the patients of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and are trying to raise awareness about this life-threatening condition on the World COPD Day observed on the third Wednesday of November annually. `The prevailing smog has increased the agony of COPD patients. Seriousness of the problem could be understood from the fact that more than 50% of patients admitted in our chest ward are of COPD. We are trying to raise awareness about the disease.
