HUMAN RIGHTS COMMITTEE EXAMINES THE REPORT OF AUSTRALIA

19 October 2017 The Human Rights Committee this morning completed its consideration of the sixth periodic report of Australia on its implementation of the provisions of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Presenting the report, John Quinn, Permanent Representative of Australia to the United Nations Office at Geneva, noted that Australia took its human rights obligations with the utmost seriousness, and that the Government was conscious of the further expectations and responsibilities placed on it as a member of the Human Rights Council.
