This article originally appeared on VICE Austria On Sunday, the 15th of October 2017, Austria`s conservative People`s Party (ÖVP) won the country`s general election with just over 31 percent of the vote - winning a total of 62 seats in parliament, and taking over from the centre-left SPÖ as the largest party in Austria. Without an overall majority, the ÖVP - led by the 31-year-old Sebastian Kurz - are expected to form a coalition government with the far-right, anti-refugee Freedom Party (FPÖ) which won 27 percent of the vote.
