Held for four months, Madagascan radio journalist finally goes on trial

Known for his investigative coverage of sensitive local stories, Cello has been held for more than four months on the basis of spurious accusations by persons he criticized on the air. Requests by his lawyers for his release pending the trial were rejected four times by the court. At the end of a three-hour hearing on 19 September, the court announced that it would issue a verdict on 26 September.
