Nagpur: By settling 3,42,538 forest rights titles of the 3,68,351 received, the forest department has claimed that Maharashtra is one of the leading states in the country to implement Forest Rights Act (FRA), 2006. Since the implementation of the Act, 8,549 cases have been decided in individual category and 3,33,989 in community forest rights (CFRs) category have been decided. The total forest area involved in settling these titles comes to 10,668 sqkm, which is equal to 17 Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserves (TATR). The TATR covers 625 sqkm.
