Friday forest fires update: Residents near Sisters told to evacuate

People living in about 500 homes near Sisters were told to evacuate Friday because of the approaching Milli Fire, officials said. Residents ordered to evacuate include Crossroads Subdivision and houses on Edgington Road, which alone has 440 homes, said Lisa Clark, fire information. Homes in other areas in the Deschutes County community include Remuda Road, Wildwing Road and the Peterson Burn Road area. Also, the Forest Service Cold Springs Campground is included in the Level 3 evacuation. `It`s moving east, on the west side of Sisters,` Clark said. She added that the fire is not considered a threat to Black Butte at this time as that area is about 6 miles north of the Milli fire. Later...
