Phil Kessel proves you can be a Stanley Cup champion and eat hot dogs
(The Star Fashion & Style)

It looks like NHL star and two-time Stanley Cup champion Phil Kessel has had the last laugh.Just a few years after the then Stanley Cup-less Toronto Maple Leafs winger took flack for his hot dog loving ways — most notably as a regular at a Front and John Sts. dog vendor — suggesting he was more committed to his snack-game than he was his hockey game.It was the talk of the hockey world for a time. But now, two years into his spot with the Pittsburgh Penguins he has proven you can enjoy the finger things in life and bring home Lord Stanley’s trophy at the same time.On Monday, Kessel shared a photo on Instagram from the golf course. In it is the Cup filled to the rim with his favourite snack. “Hotdogs taste better out of The Cup! #twotime #statestreetbrats,” he wrote in the caption. Twitter went wild with the consensus being that the 29-year-old hockey player was now a definite legend. It also seems his home team approves of the Cup as a serving platter. The Pittsburgh Penguins official Twitter account also shared the photo to their account shortly after Kessel’s Instagram share. The NHL Twitter account shared the photo also.Kessel’s hot dog habit has made for humorous frankfurter headlines before. For Halloween in 2015, Kessel dressed up as a tennis player (oh, the irony). In a photo shared online he posed with Penguins player Bryan Rust wearing a hot dog costume and holding a sign that said “Property of Phil.”For the record, Kessel has also had a soft spot when sharing his joy of winning the Cup. In July 2016, he brought the trophy to Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children after his first Cup win with the Penguins. With files from Kevin McGran and Sean Fitz-Gerald
