Italy announced Monday it will return its ambassador to Cairo more than a year after the death of an Italian graduate student caused Rome´s government to cancel its previous envoy, according to Reuters. Giulio Regeni, 28, disappeared from the streets of Cairo in January 2016, the report said. His body was later recovered from a ditch on the outskirts of the Egyptian Capital on Feb. 3 and showed evidence of extensive torture. In April 2016, Italy recalled its ambassador while it attempted to gather evidence from Egypt to solve the murder, the report said.
