Market research data revealed a 16-year high in German consumer morale which is a positive economic boast for Chancellor Angela Merkel as she prepares for re-election in September, Reuters reported Thursday. Market research company GfK found a 0.2 percent increase for a total of 10.8 percent in the consumer sentiment index - its highest level since October 2011, the report said. The results mimic similar positive morale trends such as the Munich-based Ifo economic institute who on Tuesday said its business climate index reached a record high in July, the report said.
