A landslide in southwest China has left scores of people missing after heavy rain triggered a landslide struck a mountain village early today. Authorities in Sichuan province, where the disaster occurred, said at midday that 46 houses were buried and 141 people were missing. The landslide hit Xinmo village, Mao county in the mountainous north of the province at 6 am, and blocked a 2km section of river nearby, Sichuan news portal Scol.com.cn reported.
