Resistance is growing by the day from electric customer groups fighting a proposal slipped into the state budget bill `in the dark of night` to allow electric utilities to ask for rate increases to bolster their credit ratings. Lawmakers so far seem to be ignoring the objections but the budget bill probably won`t be approved until next week.
