Phillies part ways with Saunders, Gomez

The Phillies finally reached the end of the line with Michael Saunders and Jeanmar Gomez. They announced Tuesday that they had designated the struggling veterans for assignment. If the Phillies cannot trade them within seven days they will be released. Outfielder Cameron Perkins and left-hander Hoby Milner had their contracts selected from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to fill out the 25-man roster.
