As much as any coach or administrator in this city at any school, MacFarlane’s name will forever be linked with Sandia Prep. He joined Prep 42 years ago. It was an all-girls school until 1974; MacFarlane joined the staff in 1975. MacFarlane coached a few sports during those four decades at Sandia Prep, including boys soccer and boys basketball - and, most recently, volleyball, which he gave up following the 2011 season.
